The Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert team is supporting a wellestablished 50 years old) Government Contractor with a focus on supporting scientific research. The organization is $125M revenue 800 employees and operates on Deltek Costpoint software. The team of 10 individuals in Accounting operate in a REMOTE first work environment with corporate HQ in the Tysons Corner VA area. The company is seeking a reliable proven Assistant Controller with Government Contracting industry knowledge to oversee a team of 5 and manage all daily/operational accounting areas general ledger AP/AR cash reporting month end/year end close processes financial statements etc. The position will report directly to a dependable Controller and have access to a rising star CFO.
Compensation for the position will be around $175k salary depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees daytoday accounting operations including general ledger accounts payable accounts receivable and cash reporting. Ensures an accurate and timely monthly quarterly and yearend close.
- Supports and positively manages tenured staff 5 towards continued success.
- Prepares financial and corporate statements on monthly and annual basis.
- Ensures integrity of company ledgers provides financial interpretation and analysis and monitors costs and charges for appropriateness accuracy and compliance with company policies GAAP and government regulations.
- Aids in the development and implementation of global accounting policies and procedures to provide internal controls and enhance workflow.
- Performs monthly reconciliation of commitments budgettoactual reports general ledger analysis and cost recovery calculations to ensure accuracy of the system.
- Prepares specialized reports such as month and year end schedules as needed by management and auditors. Prepares a variety of studies reports and related information for decision making purposes.
- Ensures annual audits are performed in accordance with government contract accounting regulations GAAP and/or other applicable regulatory standards. Assists the Controller in the preparation and administration of all external and internal and external reviews and audits.
