Job Description

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under general supervision responsible for driving district vehicles to deliver products and/or pick up products or as directed to meet the needs of the district. Additionally this position fulfills all functions within the warehouse or other locations as needed. All duties to be performed to maximize availability of the districts resources to provide equitable learning opportunities for all students and ensure safety and quality services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Valid Texas drivers Class C license required

Clear driving record required

Certified forklift operator preferred (required within 45 days of employment)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions

Knowledge of material handling equipment such as 2wheel hand trucks hydraulic hand pallet trucks etc.

Knowledge of general shipping and receiving procedures

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

Knowledge of accounting for inventory

Proficiency in Computers and Microsoft Office

Experience:

Two 2 years in a warehouse shipping/receiving/delivery position preferred

Pay Grade:Auxiliary Pay Structure 4

Pay Date: Monthly

Hourly Pay Range:

Minimum: $14.45

Midpoint: $17.30

Maximum: $20.15

Note:Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons jobrelated experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Perform general warehousing pickup and delivery activities as directed. Keep the warehouse clean and safe keep assigned vehicles and equipment clean safe and in working order.
  2. Maintain a positive collaborative and cooperative working environment with coworkers and team leader.
  3. Unload incoming shipments follow procedures to receive incoming shipments and ensure that receiving is accurate timely and recorded appropriately.
  4. Stage incoming shipments for crossdocking or process incoming shipments into inventory and stock merchandise with accuracy and speed.
  5. Conduct inventory of all food nonfood and supplies to ensure stock is safe and wholesome by ensuring proper rotation and using First In First Out (FIFO).
  6. Conduct physical inventories of warehouse and other buildings as directed and perform data entry tasks as needed to maintain accurate inventory records. Identify and report excess or slowmoving inventory items.
  7. Operate a forklift pallet jack and/or electric pallet jack for movement of supplies as needed.
  8. Compile data from multiple sources as needed such as contracts purchase orders invoices and accounting reports and enter information into the system to maintain accurate inventory.
  9. Pull inventory as needed load vehicles and safely transport deliveries; follow procedures to load vehicles efficiently and ensure deliveries are accurate timely and delivered with quality service.
  10. Keep vehicle(s) and equipment fueled in accordance with procedures perform preventative maintenance on assigned vehicle(s) and equipment and notify department leader of needed safety issues and repairs.
  11. Assist with capital asset tagging recording and delivering inventory as needed.
  12. Assist with disposals by collecting items from various locations processing and delivering as requested.
  13. Follow all required safety procedures and alert Warehouse Supervisor and/or Child Nutrition Team Leader when safety issues are identified.
  14. Safeguard inventory supplies and equipment against theft misuse and damage.
  15. Work all shift schedules as needed; be available to work weekends and noncalendar workdays as needed.
  16. Maintain professional learning by attending trainings and meetings as requested.
  17. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator) in accordance with funding source guidelines.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer barcode scanner calculator copier and other office machines Counterweight lift truck (forklift) 2wheel hand trucks hydraulic hand pallet trucks stock carts delivery step vans 2 1/2 ton truck with Tommy lift and mailroom equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal or written); maintain emotional control under stress; ability to handle several projects at the same time with frequent interruptions meeting delivery schedules in a timely manner ability to plan and organize work within time constraints.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Regular lifting or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds occasional lifting or moving items weighing up to 100 pounds occasional prolonged and irregular hours frequent working with temperature extremes (heat from cooking stoves and cold from walkin coolers and freezers) ability to work around moving objects or vehicles frequent walking and standing on uneven surfaces frequent contact with electrical and mechanical kitchen equipment.
