Position Overview
The Property Accountant is an integral part of the finance team and will work closely with the property & facility management teams. Reporting to the Finance Manager the Property Accountant is responsible for the Groups real estate companies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and prepare monthly financial reports/packages for management
- Prepare monthly internal and external rent rolls
- Analyze monthly variances and report to management
- Maintain compliance schedules
- Assist in the preparation of budgets forecasts and audit requirements
- Prepare and submit filings to government authorities including GST returns
- Prepare yearend operating cost reconciliations (CAM)
- G/L account reconciliation and maintenance
- Ensure all property and tenant information is up to date and accurate
- Process Utility payments and other payables as required
- Identify and submit improvements to processes related to above duties and responsibilities
- Assist with ongoing projects and adhoc requests
Qualifications/Proficiencies
- Accounting designation preferred (CPA CGA CA) or working towards designation
- 3 to 5 years experience in property accounting for commercial and residential properties
- Proficiency in asset management
- Able to work within tight Accounting deadlines
- Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in all Microsoft applications
- Must have strong attention to detail and be selfmotivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A team player with an ability to work within a team and build productive working relationships
- Knowledge of Spectra Property Management Software is an asset
- Good knowledge of accounting procedures and practices as well as full cycle accounting processes
- Hands on problem solver with a strong professional judgement.
