Position Summary:
Achieves clinical goals and objectives by supervising monitoring and evaluating substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services within the Behavioral Health program. Provides and supervises the provision of clientcentered clientdriven and culturally responsive care that meets program goals and standards in accordance with evidencebased practices and established policies procedures regulations and protocols. Adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality requirements. Honors and represents the mission vision and values of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and of the Health and Human Services (HHS) department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Improves staff effectiveness by contributing to the creation of a supportive environment conducive to achieving optimal performance.
- Facilitates case staffing and integrated treatment team meetings to encourage positive client outcomes.
- Conducts clinician onboarding and orientation training and mentoring; ensures clinicians have the tools needed to perform duties assigned; identifies individual and group continuing education needs and opportunities.
- Works in collaboration with other supervisors to support clients staff and program needs to ensure timely access to and provision of quality care.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners programs and agencies through outreach and/or coordination of care.
- Performs chart audits and general quality assurance reviews of behavioral health documentation.
- Oversees individual and group counseling schedules; assists with ensuring coverage of clinical services; completes assessments groups and individual sessions for absent clinicians when needed.
- Contributes to program development quality assurance and strategic planning efforts.
- Supports policy and procedure development updates and implementation.
- Provides comprehensive diagnostic assessments using a variety of instruments and techniques to determine needs and appropriate level of care.
- Conducts individual and group counseling sessions for substance abuse clients and families providing a positive therapeutic approach in various treatment modalities; teaches coping skills and relapse prevention techniques.
- Ensures the adherence to established DSM guidelines and ASAM protocols.
- Works with other community services and resources to support a clients access to holistic care that aligns with their recovery plan. obtaining and providing continuous care in an individualized recovery plan for clients.
- Works with staff in developing appropriate individualized treatment plans to address substance use coping strategies and recovery needs; educates families friends or other caregivers on how best to support those in recovery.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of services provided; monitors client progress; adapts treatment plans as needed.
- Manages client caseload ethically and in accordance with established procedures.
- Incorporates traditional cultural approaches as appropriate to aid in recovery.
- Completes all required documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Prepares client progress reports and completion notices and provides them to referents and other entities involved in a persons care when appropriate; attends therapeutic or specialty court hearings when required.
- Adapts to and guides staff in the administration of changes in safety protocols and procedures.
- Maintains current working knowledge of trends in substance use disorder treatment modalities and best practices.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Participates in professional development and maintains required certifications.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment to achieve shared goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of traditional form of government and tribal customs and traditions.
- Knowledge of patient evaluation and plan of care procedures.
- Knowledge of patient outreach services and activities.
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical counseling principles and methodologies in substance use disorder services and recovery support for individuals of all ages.
- Skills in interviewing and diagnostic evaluation.
- Skills in supervising training and evaluating professional development needs and clinical performance of assigned staff.
- Skills in completing documentation in an electronic health record system.
- Ability to apply evidencebased counseling methods and techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in psychology social work or closely related field preferred.
- Five years work experience providing behavioral health services is required.
- Certification as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) in Washington State required.
- Must meet the requirements of an approved clinical supervisor for Substance Use Disorder Professionals in Washington state.
- At least 2 years experience providing behavioral health services to youth.
- Experience working within American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities preferred.
- Experience working within an integrated behavioral health setting preferred.
- Valid drivers license is required when driving vehicles for workrelated purposes.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background screening / investigation according to the established requirements below.
Tribal preference in accordance with Cowlitz Indian Tribe Code and CIT Employee Policies and Procedures Handbook shall apply to all positions. All positions are required to adhere to CITs established safety policies regarding vaccine requirements and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand use hands and fingers for a variety of tasks talk and hear. The employee occasionally is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and clarity of vision at long distance.
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office/clinical setting with a moderate noise level. Employee may be exposed to bodily fluids bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease. Situations occur where PPE (personal protective equipment) is needed. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
