Job Description
This is a parttime temporary/seasonal position. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to establish an applicant pool. As vacancies occur they are filled from the pool.
The Nursing Lab & Student Success Navigator is responsible for providing academic and skill guidance to students tracking student progress and overseeing nursing lab operations on all WNC Campuses. The primary role is to support student success in the program and ensure efficient functional operations of nursing labs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Nursing Director activities will include:
Lab Operations
- Provide oversight of lab operations on WNC campuses (Carson Fallon and Douglas) including simulation equipment manikins and software
- Provide direction and training for lab staff (Admin Assistant III and student workers) as needed
- Communicate regularly with lab staff student workers and nursing faculty to understand needs and problem solve
- Provide technical support for simulations as needed
- Assist faculty with planning for laboratory simulation events
Student Success:
- Advise students about strategies for persistence and successful course completion
- Guide students to necessary support resources providing referrals as needed
- Provide instructional guidance and formative feedback for skill competencies
- Meet with students referred to the lab by nursing faculty and provide individualized support
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
5 years nursing experience in a hospital setting
Compensation:
$60 per hour
