Job Summary: We are seeking an accomplished and experienced Senior Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in managing complex fitout construction estimates and leading estimation teams. This role demands exceptional analytical skills strategic thinking and the ability to influence project outcomes through precise cost forecasting.
The Senior Estimator will play a pivotal role in driving the financial success of our projects mentoring junior or less experienced estimators and contributing to the continuous improvement of our estimating processes. This is a leadership role within the organisation requiring a candidate who is highly detail oriented wellversed in industry best practices and capable of overseeing medium to largescale estimating functions while collaborating closely with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Cost Estimation
Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for highvalue fitout construction projects including materials labor equipment and subcontractor services.
Evaluate architectural drawings specifications and project documentation to develop comprehensive cost strategies.
Provide expert interpretation of plans markups and instructions ensuring accuracy and completeness in all estimates.
Conduct complex quantity takeoffs and develop detailed bid pricing strategies that align with client expectations and project feasibility. Project & Stakeholder
Collaboration
Work closely with project managers engineers and key stakeholders to ensure all project components are accurately represented in estimates.
Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best pricing while ensuring quality and compliance with project requirements.
Engage with clients to clarify project requirements and provide expert costrelated insights to influence decisionmaking and project planning.
Bid Management & Tendering
Take ownership of bid preparation including detailed scope reviews complex takeoffs pricing strategies and submission documentation.
Identify costsaving opportunities and potential risks while maintaining project financial viability and competitiveness in the market.
Participate in tender presentations prebid meetings and contract negotiations to provide expert insight on costrelated aspects of project .
Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor and guide junior estimators fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Oversee the work of estimation team members ensuring accuracy consistency and adherence to industry best practices.
Provide leadership in estimation methodologies cost analysis and risk assessment developing the teams capabilities and effectiveness.
Cost Control & Risk Management
Identify costsaving opportunities discrepancies and potential risks providing proactive recommendations to management.
Develop and maintain cost databases and benchmark pricing structures ensuring uptodate and accurate cost information.
Implement risk assessment methodologies to ensure all financial aspects of estimates align with the companys risk mitigation strategies.
Process Improvement & Technology Integration
Drive the continuous improvement of estimating procedures incorporating industry best practices and technological advancements to enhance efficiency.
Stay abreast of industry trends construction methods and innovative cost estimation techniques to refine pricing accuracy.
Ensure the effective utilisation of Cubit cost estimation software and other relevant tools to streamline workflows and improve estimation accuracy.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 710 years of progressive experience in construction estimating with a strong focus on commercial fitout and/or newbuild projects.
Demonstrated expertise in managing estimates for $15M$20M commercial projects.
Bachelors Degree in Construction Management Engineering Quantity Surveying or a related field is highly preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Cubit cost estimation software is essential.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities with experience mentoring junior estimators.
Excellent analytical mathematical and problemsolving skills with high attention to detail.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage with clients stakeholders and subcontractors effectively.
Indepth knowledge of local building codes regulations and industry standards in Australia.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
