We are looking for someone to join our International Energy Providers market team in Cologne as a Managing Consultant.

Our Guidehouse Energy Providers practice is collaborating with leaders in energy and utility clients to successfully navigate the energy transition to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. In a rapidly changing landscape where utilities and energy companies are transitioning to a cleaner fuel supply increased reliability and improved resilience we turn vision into action.

We lead and derisk implementing new business models and technologies that are leading the way to a more sustainable future. We are thinking in integrated systems and work across value chains when creating broader decarbonization strategies and driving forward solutions like green gases & hydrogen renewable power/PPAs CCUS and the related infrastructure.

To consistently bring highest value to our clients we work in a uniquely collaborative model integrating insights from our industry sustainability and policy & regulation teams.

This position is based in our Cologne office on a hybrid basis.

What You Will Do:

Your work will focus on diverse topics and assignments related to energy strategy business model development power and gas markets business transformation and low carbon energy solutions such as hydrogen biofuels renewable power and carbon capture and storage solutions including relevant infrastructure.

In this role you will be responsible for:

Working with regional and international leadership to grow the energy providers practice in Germany through:

• Engaging with potential clients to understand their key challenges and needs.

• Defining a compelling value proposition aligned with the clients needs.

• Supporting development of client sales opportunities focused especially on integrated energy companies but not limited to this.

• Collaborating crosspractice to build compelling new solution offerings that resonate with target clients.

Delivering successful consulting engagements by:

• Project managing multiple and/or more complex consulting engagements.

• Completing engagements at or above targeted profitability through effective management of project scope client expectations and team productivity.

• Generating new and unique ideas and using solid judgment to determine which ideas will have greatest likelihood of success.

• Being an effective part of the local team while engaging with international teams and networks for subject matter experts.

• Playing a key role in the of innovative solutions and application of technical knowledge and best practices.

• Mentoring and managing local junior staff.

Our Managing Consultants must demonstrate considerable business acumen and an acute focus on maximizing client value and building relationships over time.

What You Will Need:

• 5 (FIVE) or more years professional experienceeither in professional services strategy or management consulting or with energy providers integrated energy companies or other large energy players.

• Excellent project delivery capabilities in private sector settings.

• Demonstrated experience positioning and delivering consulting and / or business solutions.

• Business case or proposal writing experience including budget development and managing proposal timeline with multiple subject matter experts providing input.

• Strong communication writing and presentation skills.

• A critical thinker with a strong eye for detail and creative in problem solving.

• A teamplayer who demonstrates the willingness and ability to work effectively in diverse teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.

• Willingness to travel internationally where possible.

• Ability to work fluently in Germany and English (written and spoken C1 or fluent).

• University degree with a focus on economics business technology engineering mathematics or science.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

• Germany and European professional network.

• Relationships with energy providers or with integrated energy companies that will support business development and enable improved understanding of needs.

• Knowledge and experience in power or gas systems pipeline infrastructure grid integration of decentralised sources decarbonisation of the energy sector and/or power markets business transformation and change management.

• Knowledge and experience in industry topics such as: decarbonization the hydrogen economy advanced energy technologies renewable energy distributed generation electricity generation utility regulation power / or gas sales.
