Job Description
PROK is the worlds largest conveyor components manufacturer with our Smeaton Grange facility being the largest in Australia. Here we produce conveyor rollers idlers and conveyor structures supporting industries worldwide with highquality reliable solutions.
We are now seeking a motivated Leading Hand that is driven to meet production targets and finds satisfaction in solving peoplerelated issues. This position will lead by example and embody PROKs high quality standards.
Our Opportunity
The Leading Hand provides support via their technical expertise to their team of Production Technicians within their designated section. The Leading Hand will oversee and contribute to daily production by focusing on:
- Strategy: Create clear and effective plans for daily production that will allow the team to meet safety standards produce at a high quality and at the correct volumes.
- : Take responsibility for setting up machinery for production runs and ensure quality standards are met by approving preproduction sample outputs.
- Culture: Be a leader. Act as a main point of contact for team members and provide guidance set expectations and reinforce safety protocols.
- Structure: Report to the Workshop Supervisor and lead a small team of your own. Support the Workshop Supervisor with LEAN 5S initiatives and any other workplace uplift projects as required.
This is a fulltime permanent role based in Smeaton Grange NSW.
About you
A natural leader and problem solver you will be comfortable creating production plans and effectively delegating. You will also lead by example and be prepared to get your hands dirty on a daily basis. You will be a:
- Skilled Professional: Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar team lead or people management position. A Trade certificate (Boilermaker Welding or similar) would be beneficial but not required.
- Subject Matter Expert: Experience within manufacturing and/or engineering environments would be highly advantageous.
- Methodical and Passionate Persona: Values strong process and is motivated by producing quality product and a job well done.
- Strong Communicator: Able to effectively engage with a diverse team and set clear expectations and instructions. Confident in your ability to report production numbers and report issues to senior management including the Production Manager and General Manager.
- Relentless bias to action: An enthusiastic problem solver that wants to take ownership for their section and team members.
