About the role:
This positions primary responsibilities include leading a group of R&D Electrical and Motor Control Engineers in the development of medical devices within the rapidly growing Interventional Cardiology space. The manager will have an in depth understanding of the electrical requirements and will lead the team in developing market leading products. This position will also function as a subject matter expert and steer the team towards successful electronic medical equipment product designs. In addition the manager must ensure that designs are compliant with internal SOPs and medical device industry standards. This position will be responsible for mentoring and accelerating the growth of their team members and provide regular coaching and feedback to aid in their career development. Experience in the structured environment of a regulated industry such as medical devices aerospace or similar is preferred.

Work Mode:
At Boston Scientific we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:
Leading/Managing a team of Electrical Engineers and Systems ID/Motor Control engineers
Responsible for the electrical architecture for new product development projects from Exploratory through Sustainment of commercialized product
Working as a member of a crossfunctional product development team develop and/or guiding the development of algorithms that interact with hardware to achieve desired results and implement them in firmware
Oversee/review hardware test plans test procedures and execute hardware verification and validation tests
Support the deployment of embedded systems in the market when the medical device is commercialized
Participate in defining and implementing configuration management of the electronic subsystems
Work with crossfunctional teams to provide hardware support for manufacturing and field service needs
Familiarity with development and documentation in accordance with internal SOPs (e.g. Design Controls) and standards such as UL and IEC 60601
Responsible for recruiting coaching and/or developing organizational talent.
Responsible for providing direction and/or guidance to hardware engineers who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.
Demonstrates effective change leadership.
Builds strategic partnerships across Boston Scientific to further departmental and organizational objectives.

Required qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field
10 years of experience electrical engineering
3 years of experience in as a technical manager
Handson embedded product integration verification and validation planning test strategy development design of test protocols and executing hardware/system testing.
Proven Leadership and Management of a technical group providing coaching and development
Demonstrated ability to write functional specifications
Expert knowledge of standard electronics development tools
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and applicable Quality System Standards
Expert knowledge of real time systems and operating systems

Preferred qualifications:
M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field
Experience with Class II or Class III medical device product development
5 years of experience in direct R&D management of electrical engineers
3 years working in the medical device field
Cross functional experience in working with external manufacturing partners operations and test engineering and process development
Previous experience with ECAD design software
Hardware experience in control systems realtime operating systems and FPGA design
Good knowledge of scientific mathematical and statistical principles
Strong communication skills written verbal and presentations

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training pertinent education including licensure and certifications among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for nonexempt (hourly) nonsales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g. any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

Compensation for exempt nonsales roles may also include variable compensation i.e. annual bonus target and longterm incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
