Position Title: Social Worker Acute Bereavement and Palliative Care

Employment Type: Permanent PartTime

Hours per week: 16 Hours Per Week

Position Grade: Social Worker Level 3

Salary: $112396.09 $ 116038.01 pro rata per annum

About the Role:

  • Join a dynamic team focused on providing quality care to clients within the Social Work Department particularly in the Acute Bereavement role.

  • Support palliative care efforts by responding to the endoflife needs of acute patients their families and carers complementing the work of Palliative Care Social Workers.

  • Provide bereavement followup after sudden or traumatic deaths offering ongoing support to families following complex or highrisk situations.

  • Address complex issues related to risk and grief working with individuals and families to navigate challenging emotional and social circumstances postdeath.

Selection Criteria:

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincents Health Australia
2.Degree in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with evidence of clinical experience in a hospital or health related field as a practicing Social Worker.
3.Demonstrated knowledge advanced clinical skills and experience in life limiting illness in inpatient and community based palliative care including trauma informed therapeutic counselling and care of patients families and carers in the context of grief loss & trauma. Experience skills and knowledge in trauma support and/or counselling
4. Demonstrated competencies in comprehensive psychosocial assessments crisis intervention anticipatory grief loss and bereavement complex clinical casework end of life care and family work individual couple family carer and group work
5. Demonstrated commitment experience and ability to work as a member of multidisciplinary and social work teams in a specialised environment
6. Welldeveloped skills in written and verbal communication computer literacy time management prioritisation liaison and negotiation.
7. Ability to undertake and contribute to research projects and lead quality improvement and education activities and a commitment to maintaining professional skills and knowledge base. Demonstrated experience in staff and student supervision.
8. Willingness to participate in the oncall service.
