Job Description

Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a strategy consulting firm who is seeking a Senior Hedge Fund Accountant to join their team on a fulltime/permanent basis.

Title:Senior Hedge Fund Accountant
Location: Vienna VA
Salary: $100000 $120000
Job Type: Full Time / Permanent

The Senior Accountant is responsible for monthly closing duties including preparing journal entries performing general ledger account analyses and reconciliations and supporting trading operations of the commodity and hedge funds. They work alongside a Junior Staff Accountant who assists with the tasks listed below in addition to other duties. The ideal candidate will be highly organized able to work independently as well as with others and have strong attention to detail. They should be flexible and comfortable working in a midsized company environment. This position reports to the Senior Accounting Manager.

Job Description:
  • Prepare journal entries purchases/sales and other transactions in the fund accounting system
  • Prepare cash reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement reports
  • Resolve trade exceptions on a daily basis (requires prompt follow up with trading counterparties and custodians)
  • Net Asset Value (NAV) reporting and reconciliation
  • Assist with preparation of the annual financial statements schedules and ad hoc requests related to the annual audit of the financial statements
  • Assist with annual tax reporting deliverables
  • Trade and position reconciliations
  • Corporate action processing
  • Establish modify and document accounting procedures
  • Provide guidance and training to Junior Staff Accountant
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years relevant fund accounting experience
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • High degree of ethics
  • Hard working with intellectual curiosity and the desire/ability to learn rapidly
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Interest in financial markets desired
  • Proficient in MS Excel
