The Climate Action Campaign (CAC) is seeking a State Organizing Director to drive ambitious field work including grassroots grasstops lobbying and media focused on moving our Federal targets and building a powerful narrative in key states.
Were looking for an ambitious organizer hungry to change the world a savvy strategist who keeps their eyes on the prize and a seasoned manager and leader who brings the best out of a small staff team responsible for dozens of partners. This position reports to the Senior Director of Field & Campaign Strategy and works closely with CACs leadership team and an array of coalition partners.
Who We Are
Core Responsibilities:
Direct the daytoday activities of the State Organizing team.
Manage train and mentor a staff team of two Regional Campaign Managers.
Develop a deep understanding of the people and politics of CACs core states (currently Arizona Georgia Michigan and Pennsylvania).
Leverage and maximize the impact of CAC resources to move our Federal Senate and House targets to vocally support climate policies aligned with CAC campaign goals.
Understand the dynamics that motivate our targets and our partners to fully engage.
Work with instate partners and CAC leadership to design and test strategies that successfully move our targets.
Push the envelope with creative tactics that generate media attention and significant grassroots activity.
Convene regular meetings with National Field Directors of coalition partners.
Build relationships with funded and unfunded partners to maximize the power of the CAC coalition in key states and nationally.
Track progress to goals hold partners accountable and coach to success.
Design and execute the annual RFP process for funding field partners. Evaluate proposals and recruit new field partners to plug gaps and engage in the work. Oversee of MOUs and help ensure timely payments for field partners.
Troubleshoot internal and external problems with expert diplomacy.
Collaborate internally with CAC leadership to maximize the impact of CAC campaigns.
Travel on a regular basis to CAC states for convenings events and relationship building.
Be a nimble team player who can identify gaps and step in to fill tactical and strategic opportunities as needed.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate will bring:
At least 7 years experience leading largescale field programs on advocacy and/or political campaigns.
A talent for managing people with excellent interpersonal skills and a track record of building highlyeffective field teams and developing strong staff. Previous staff management experience is required.
An ambitious entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to drive field teams to exceed what they think is possible.
Expertise in executing grassroots media coalition building and grasstops tactics including volunteer programs petition drives trainings lobby visits press events opeds editorial board visits social media and more.
Analytical and datadriven with excellent attention to detail and a deep curiosity for the story behind the numbers.
Skills as a strategic thinker and clear communicator who can drive home for others how tactics connect back to the larger campaign strategy.
Adept at managing competing priorities anticipating and preparing for challenges and able to quickly shift plans as the campaign evolves.

This is a fulltime exempt position. The salary range for this position is $and is commensurate based on experience. FullTime Benefits Include:

Work Environment
This position is based in Washington DC. CAC staff work in a hybrid setup with 23 days per week of inoffice work.
Physical Requirements
Predominantly operates in an office environment. Must be able to remain stationary a majority of the time. Must be able to use standard office equipment including computers and keyboards.
