The Maintenance Intern will gain handson experience in various aspects of building maintenance including plumbing electrical work carpentry locksmithing facility management and construction oversight. This internship provides high school students with valuable technical skills professional mentoring and exposure to facility operations in an educational setting.
Schedule: 7a2:30p Monday FridayJune 9th through August 1st
Assist maintenance staff in completing tasks related to plumbing electrical work carpentry and facility upkeep.
Learn and practice safety procedures and proper tool usage under the supervision of skilled professionals.
Complete weekly handson projects such as installing a Ptrap wiring a light switch patching drywall and adjusting doors.
Understand and apply key concepts in construction management facility operations and equipment maintenance.
Participate in weekly checkins reflecting on learned skills challenges and areas for improvement.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment while following all safety protocols.
By the end of the internship the intern will be able to:
Demonstrate basic plumbing electrical carpentry and locksmithing skills.
Understand the importance of routine and deep cleaning in facility management.
Recognize key components of construction project management including budgeting and scheduling.
Work effectively as part of a maintenance team in a school district setting.
High school student (junior or senior preferred) interested in skilled trades and facility maintenance.
Willingness to learn take initiative and work as part of a team.
Ability to follow instructions ask questions and apply learned concepts to realworld scenarios.
Strong attention to safety and detail.
