Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist to join the Medical Imaging Computed Tomography team at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist you will:

  • Performs examinations in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) in accordance with departmental policy and procedures and observes safe radiation protection practices.
  • Duties include receiving and completing requisitions entering relevant data into the radiology information system preparing examination trays and patients for specific procedures.
  • Operate computerized imaging equipment including processing and archiving of acquired data monitoring patient during procedures and monitoring equipment performance.

ABOUT SECHELT BC

Sechelt is located on the traditional territories of the shshlh (Sechelt) Nation and is approximately 50 km northwest of Vancouver. It is accessible from the mainland by a 40minute ferry trip between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale followed by a 25minute drive along Highway 101 also know as the Sunshine Coast Highway. This charming seaside community is know for its natural beauty and is a popular destination for outdoor activities including sightseeing boating diving camping and mountain biking. ABOUT SECHELT HOSPITAL

Sechelt Hospital is an acute care 46bed facility located in Sechelt British Columbia and serves over 30000 residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Sechelt Hospital provides a full range of services to the community including Emergency care Renal programcommunity dialysis units Mental Health and Substance Use Services surgical services birthing for lowrisk pregnancies and imaging services.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Certification with CAMRT (Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography) and completion of a recognized advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course and two 2 years recent related experience performing MRI and CT procedures.
  • Certified or eligible for certification for Delegated Medical Activity (DMA) or an equivalent combination of acceptable education training and experience.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidencebased practice related to designated modality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies procedures and standards of care including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current General Radiography MRI and CT theory and practices within a patient/family centred model of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with radiology equipment.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengthsbased care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems i.e. digital imaging image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and deal effectively with patients and their families coworkers physicians other health care staff and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated skill in MRI and CT techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy all health care workers working in publiclyfunded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
