  • Fulltime role Sydney based and hybrid working
  • Join our Technology Division and champion a proactive risk approach!

You will be part of Technology Division within the Business Control and Monitoring (BCM) team. BCM is a central team responsible for enabling business success in keeping the Bank safe. We drive a risk attitude in the Technology Division so everyone has the capability to make informed decisions. We are responsible for evaluating directing and supervising 1st line risk activities to ensure risk across Technology is kept within the risk appetite established for the Westpac Group. You will be enabling this by providing risk leadership to Westpacs Technology division.

How will I help

Were searching for a Senior Manager who is dynamic driven demonstrates leadership and upholds Westpac values. You will be confident in providing advice to Senior Technology and Operations Leaders specifically our Consumer Division CIO team to help them evaluate potential risks and exposures for Group Technology and resolving how to optimally minimise those risks and develop the procedures that can be implemented.

As a Senior Manager a typical day might include the following:

  • You will be developing risk management strategies evaluate potential risks and exposures in Technology and determine how to effectively minimise those risks and develop procedures that can be implemented.
  • Working closely with business and/or project owners to influence a strong risk culture e.g. conducting risk workshops providing guidance on risk assessments and strategies coordinating risk remediation activities against appropriate timelines.
  • Drafting management reports for formal governance forums making sure risks are articulated clearly and the right information gets to the right people for the right decisions to be made.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive risk committee papers including identifying key risk areas proposing mitigation strategies and ensuring that all relevant information is clearly communicated to senior management and stakeholders to support informed decisionmaking.
  • Working closely with project and operational teams to ensure projects with technology solutions are appropriately crafted to minimise delivered risk
  • Lead pivotal initiatives to further improve our risk service offering and mature risk and compliance management for the Group.
  • Lead and mentor others in your team and key collaborators.
  • Continuous learning to deepen your understanding of the business risk management practices and industry developments.

Youll be set up for success in your transition to the role. Collaborating with a team of colleagues based in Australia you will convene in person at our Kent Street office twice a week to facilitate regrouping team member engagement and interactions with senior stakeholders across the Division.

What do I need

  • Extensive demonstrated ability in a large and complex organisation preferably in the financial services industry
  • Significant knowledge and experience in risk and regulatory landscape operational systems business knowledge and operational risk and compliance frameworks
  • Adaptive influencing and relationship building skills across senior executives and peers
  • Excellent problem solving and evaluative judgement skills
  • Strong skills in planning project management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure with shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment

You might also have (but not essential):

  • A tertiary qualification preferably in a business finance accounting or commerce related subject area
  • Cyber ITIL and COBIT accreditations desirable
