About the role:
As the Principal Finance Advisor (Taxation) you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the departments corporate taxation responsibilities.
You will ensure compliance with legislative requirements by developing and implementing effective frameworks. Your expertise will be crucial in reviewing and analysing complex taxation matters providing specialist advice and contributing to policy development and senior management briefings.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Working with the A07 parttime PFA (Taxation) to effectively lead and manage the departments corporate taxation responsibilities to ensure compliance with legislative requirements by developing and implementing an appropriate framework.
- Lead the highquality review and analysis of complex taxation matters issues proposals submissions and other materials to ensure that taxationrelated issues are appropriately identified and considered.
- Provide specialist advice and input into the research analysis and drafting of policies in addition to input into ministerial correspondence and briefings for senior management.
- Lead a small highperforming finance and taxation team and people management including the management of daily/weekly task allocation recruitment performance capability development team communication and ensuring a safe and diverse work environment.
- Provide specialist advice to stakeholders and clients on the impact of taxation legislation changes and input into the research analysis and drafting of policies input into briefings for senior management whilst ensuring effective compliance concerning the Departments corporate tax responsibilities.
- Enhance the knowledge and further develop your own and team members capabilities.
The successful candidate:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in applying Australian taxation legislation (particularly Goods & Services Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax) supported by a sound awareness of the Financial Accountability Act 2009 the Financial and Performance Management Standard 2019 and relevant accounting standards.
- Experience leading activities related to the National Tax Equivalents Regime (NTER).
- Possess excellent communication skills and provide accurate and highquality advice to employees and key contacts to facilitate the effective discharge of taxation accountabilities.
- Experience effectively leading and managing a small team including annual planning professional development planning and task allocations and monitoring.
- Membership of CPA Australia the Institute of Chartered Accountants or the Institute of Public Accountants would also be highly regarded.
- A degree or equivalent in finance accounting commerce or business administration with a particular emphasis on taxation would be highly regarded.
Whats on offer
This contract is available for an initial 12 months with likely extensions.
Located in Brisbane with a Hybrid working arrangement.
