Do you desire to make a difference in the lives of youth experiencing housing challenges in the GTA Are you passionate about mobilizing the Christian community towards hospitality As part of our Gaining Ground Stable Housing Strategy Youth Unlimited is hiring an Open Door Coordinator for the GTA.

With over 1 million young people in the Toronto area alone Youth Unlimiteds vision is to see every one of them transformed by Gods love & lifechanging power. Our hope is that by cultivating relationships with caring adults who will mentor and cheer them on our young people will be able to bring about positive change to our city both now and in the future.
We do this through grassroots programming a focus on wholistic transformation and a network of local partnerships. This includes afterschool programs sports programs summer camps and more.

The Open Door Coordinator will help us launch a new ministry initiative designed to mobilize equip and support the Christian community in the GTA to host youth in need of safe places to stay. The desire is that this new initiative will help address housing barriers so many youth and families are facing one youth one bed one night at a time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pioneer and cast vision for Youth Unlimiteds new Open Door housing initiative
- Coordinate the recruiting mobilizing training and care for Christian host families
- Coordinate operational tasks for Open Door including
- Scheduling administration and financial oversight
- Program intake debrief and aftercare planning
- Facilitate resolution of issues arising during an Open Door stay
- Support YU staff navigating the Open Door initiative with their youth
- Network and develop partnerships with local churches and community organizations
- Participate as member of Youth Unlimiteds Stable Housing Council
- Shape and implement Open Door vision and policy guidelines
- Report to Council on progress and status of Open Door initiative
Requirements:
- Pursue a vital spiritual life and growing relationship with God as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ
- Be a faithful and contributing member of a local church
- A deep commitment to a holistic approach of proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and Gods Kingdom
- Experience in community/church engagement and working with youth is an asset
- Related experience education or training regarding housing is an asset
- Class G drivers license & available vehicle
- Available for occasional evening/afterhours support to YU staff and host families
Position Information
This is a fulltime position (requires a minimum of 30 hours/week). The salary of this staff position is determined on a scale based on education and experience and is 100 funded on a missionary basis requiring the successful applicant to fundraise and gather a personal support team. The Open Door Coordinator will be supervised by the Ministry Director and work closely with the Stable Housing Council.
