Primary Function: To use leadership supervisory and administrative skills to promote the
educational development of each student.
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned Masters Degree (AA) or higher.
Mississippi Educator License with Administration Endorsement.
Minimum of five 5 years documented current experience in school administration.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads the development determination of appropriateness and monitoring of the instruction program.
Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
Initiates designs and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.
Keeps the Superintendent informed of the schools activities and problems.
Makes recommendations concerning the schools administration and instruction.
Prepares and submits the schools budgetary requests and monitors expenditure of funds.
Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations
by the schools staff and students.
Assumes responsibility for his/ her own professional growth and development through membership
and participation in affairs of professional organizations attendance at regional state and national
meetings and enrollment in advance courses.
Supervises the schools teaching process.
Responsible for the selection and supervision of all school building personnel.
Recommends according to established procedures the removal of a teacher whose work is
unsatisfactory.
Provides adequate inventories of school property and for the security and accountability for that
property.
Participates in principals meetings and other required meetings.
Specific Job Functions:
Organizes and supervises an educational environment to advance student achievement for all
students.
Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports records lists and all other paperwork required or
appropriate to the schools administration.
Keeps supervisor informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters
related to the supervisors accountability.
Maintains active relationship with students and parents.
Schedules classes within established guidelines to meet student needs.
Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary according to due
process rights of students.
Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performances.
Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school plant.
Cooperates with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation.
Establishes and maintains relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster
understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs; to interpret Board
policies and administrative directives and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.
Delegates authority to responsible personnel to assume responsibility for the school in the absence of
the principal.
Performs additional duties as assigned and directed by the Superintendent or Designee.
Terms of Employment: 236 Days
Evaluation: Subject to provisions of School Board policies on performance evaluations.
Salary: Based on degree and experience
