POSITION TITLE: Instructional Coach

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10.5 monthsschool year
Primary Purpose:
Serve as a resource for teachers to identify and demonstrate instructional strategies best practices and interventions to promote maximum success for students in all areas of the curriculum.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
Bachelors degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Masters degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of core curriculum and effective instructional strategies
Successful classroom teaching experience
Strong organizational communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Minimum three years experience in primary reading and math instruction
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management
- Work directly with teachers individually and in small groups as directed by the principal.
- Give best practice demonstration lessons for teachers in their classrooms.
- Incorporate strategies that are aligned with the districts curriculum.
- Communicate with teachers of identified students to develop effective classroom teaching strategies and monitor students progress.
- Assist teachers in evaluating student for ongoing instructional decision making.
- Promote and facilitate research that leads to best practice.
- Model best practices in small group instruction by working with identified students in classrooms.
- Support professional learning communities; admission review and dismissal meetings; and language proficiency assessment committees with student data instructional resources and instructional strategies.
Assessment
- Assist teachers in interpreting data to determine students needs.
- Collaborate with teachers to make datadriven decisions in planning effective instruction.
- Assist teachers with implementing appropriate resources to maximize student progress.
- Monitor data related to English language learners and students with low socioeconomic status.
Communication
- Communicate information about curriculum and instruction.
- Network with other instructional coaches to assess and plan instruction research best practices and coordinate management of materials and procedures with consistency across the district.
Professional Growth and Development
- Initiate participate in and evaluate professional learning programs.
- Provide professional learning for staff that emphasizes scientifically researched instruction.
- Utilize information from professional learning to demonstrate effective implementation in classrooms.
- Assist tutors and others in best practices and scientifically researched resources.
- Provide ongoing training and instructional support in implementing strategies for English language proficiency standards
