We are looking for a Technical Director Structures to join our team in Perth.
Our Structures team has a reputation for solving nontypical complicated problems across Defence Industrial Commercial Transport and Water infrastructure sectors. You will be afforded the flexibility to focus on the technical aspects of Structural design and/or lead the delivery of complex brownfield and greenfield structural and multidiscipline projects.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Structural Design of buildings and civil infrastructure
- Structural Design of modifications / upgrades to existing buildings and facilities with a focus on adding value with innovative solutions to improve constructability and reduce downtime
- Site investigations and condition inspections
- Feasibility and condition assessment reporting
- Providing construction phase services including progress inspections managing TQs and RFIs and resolving site queries and site change requests
- Building client relationships and preparation of project bids and proposals
- Management of project schedules and budgets to ensure designs/reports are completed to budget and schedule requirements
- Coaching and mentoring graduate and intermediate level team members
- Undertake technical updates for the Structures team including for AS/code amendments new systems and techniques
- Monitor the technical soundness of work produced by the Structures team and promote continuous improvement
What you will bring to the team:
- Strong capability in first principles Structural Engineering design
- Embrace our shared commitment to safety in all aspects of our work
- A strong interest and passion in the technics of Structural Design of Buildings and Water Infrastructure
- Dedicated to Structural Engineering with the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team
- Ability to assist the Business Group Leader with the management of the team
- A practical mindset able to balance technical decisions and production with commercial drivers
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficiency in undertaking Quality Assurance technical reviews and communicating poor quality matters to the team members involved
- Ability to listen to and understand the client and effectively interpret client requirements to determine the scope of services required
- Good solid Construction Site experience and demonstrated ability to translate design requirements and impart understanding to Contractors
- Sound ability to resolve on site construction errors and find effective solutions
- Be willing to travel to clients sites from time to time
- Ability to grow your network of professional contacts through your client interactions and interactions with the GHD community
- Capable in the use of structural analysis and design software Space Gass ETABS RAM Concept ROBOT. Willingness to learn new packages
- Have Building Engineer Registration or intend on applying
