Job Description

  • Be part of an exciting initiative and a brandnew fulltime role fixed term 14 months (with the possibility of extension subject to further funding being secured).
  • Work with a consortium of Aboriginal Community Control Organisations (ACCOs) to design a selfdetermined ground up and holistic justice approach that responds to communitys needs and aspirations in the West of Melbourne.
  • Receive a generous SCHCADS Award salary Level 7 Pay Point 1 $115062 pa) NFP salary packaging.

About the role

The Manager Justice Reinvestment (JR) in the West will be a Djirra employee supporting a Governance Group (GG) composed of Aboriginal Community Control Organisations (ACCOs) to design a longterm Justice Reinvestment strategy and model of cultural governance in the West. You will be based out of Djirras office in the West and work from other offices as needed.

  • Oversee the daytoday operations of the Western Melbourne JR project including its implementation and give regular updates on project implementation to the GG and Djirra to ensure decisions are informed by community priorities.
  • Provide secretariat and other support functions to the Governance Group and ensure that governance and partnership principles are upheld.
  • Provide line management supervision and support to the JR Community Engagement Officer Research Officer and community consultants including overseeing their professional development.
  • Establish and sustain relationships partnerships and networks with the community ACCOs and other key stakeholders (government nongovernment organisations/services) to work collaboratively.
  • Identify and explore additional funding sources for the ongoing delivery of the project and funding for future sustainability.

Essential

  • Demonstrated relevant experience in managing community led projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working in culturally safe ways with Aboriginal organisations and/or with Aboriginal communities on complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and successfully leading and developing staff and providing strategic advice at an advanced level.
  • A Victorian Employees Working with Childrens Check card or willing to obtain one
  • Willing to obtain a Police Check at Djirras expense
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
