Position Purpose

Manage liaise with and grow a base of COOP employers by researching and developing COOP opportunities with various employers based on the specific needs of COOP students and their program of study.

Assess the quality of work terms to ensure relevant and enriching learning experiences are available to COOP students.

Act as a uOttawa Ambassador with community partners to promote the image of the University and promote community engagement and social accountability within the University community.

In this job your responsibilities will include

Coordination of placements

  • Invite current and potential COOP employers to participate to our placement processes. and guide firsttimeposts at every step of the recruitment process. Assess the quality and suitability of employer job postings with regards to students having a relevant learning experience.
  • Analyze and follow up on evaluations from the various placements and propose/implement ways to improve our programs. Throughout the process act as a resource person to employers and to ensure retention and success.

Programs and Portfolio Management

  • Update and maintain the database with relevant and useful information to facilitate business continuity and collaboration.
  • Understand the needs of employers and help transform them into COOP contacts and keep current on course curriculums and develop a thorough knowledge of relevant academic disciplines.
  • Maintain excellent relations with relevant faculty and its members such as professors and academic coordinators alumni relation officers development teams and marketing contacts in order to promote COOP to potential employer contacts.

Account Management

  • Maintain and grow an active portfolio of current employers by crossselling other programs of study and providing prompt and efficient customer service by implementing communication strategies to keep employers engaged in the COOP process and active in their hiring of COOP students.
  • Plan schedule and execute COOP student midterm evaluations within the timeframe provided while gathering intel on trends within those accounts.
  • Guided by the Team Leads work alongside Junior Business Developers and various students and team members to execute business development strategies including market research direct marketing and social media campaigns to source potential employers and job opportunities suitable for the disciplines and industries.

Outreach networking and knowledge management

  • Keep current on industry and job market trends and updates Team Lead accordingly by being active and involved with associations relevant to sector and understands potential funding opportunities for employers.
  • Act as an ambassador for the University of Ottawa when attending networking and other related events to gather new business for the program and to increase the programs visibility.

What you will bring

  • Knowledge of business development and account management principles normally acquired through an undergraduate university degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Bilingualism French and English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in an environment where tasks are numerous and time is limited.
  • Experience organizing and prioritizing work with tight deadlines and busy schedules.
  • Related Work Integrated Learning / COOP or marketing experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enthusiastic proactive and motivated in following up with employers.
  • Experience using Customer Relation Management (CRM) tools for account management and business development.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to be thorough accurate and have a high level of attention to detail.
  • Superior communications skills. Ease at public speaking and ability to present in both official languages
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office Internet Research with good email management skills.
