Job Description

Visiting Position in Japanese and East Asian History

Wesleyan Universitys Department of History invites applications for a one year fulltime Visiting Professor of Japaneseand East AsianHistory beginning September 1 2025. Area and period of research is open. Ph.D. inHistoryor related fieldshould be in hand by the time of the appointment to behired as a Professor; a successful candidatemaybe hired asanInstructor if the candidatedoes not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment. The teaching load is 3/2 in person on Wesleyans campus. Courses offered will include one survey course each on premodern and modern Japanese will be given to candidates who can also offer one course on Chinese and/or Korean a strong and diverse undergraduate student body Wesleyan is a highly selective liberal arts college that values both scholarship and teaching.
