The Opportunity

An exciting leadership opportunity has opened for a motivated person to take on the role of Manager of Works and Services and be part of a dynamic management team. This position provides a great opportunity to be involved in a progressive Shire that has a strong focus on maintaining an excellent road network and on ensuring that the works and services department delivers for the community.

The Tasks Ahead
  • Directly supervise and manage the works (construction and maintenance) program.
  • Direct and control all aspects of service delivery by the Shire in the works and services sector and to ensure all tasks budgeted by Council and as directed by the Chief Executive Officer are carried out in an efficient and timely manner to a high standard.
  • Provide professional assistance information advice and reports to Council the Chief Executive Officer staff the public public authorities and others as required.
  • Provide strong leadership and management of the work crews and be an active contributing member of the senior management team.

About You

You are a driven and results oriented leader who can demonstrate the following:
  • Strong knowledge and experience in supervision of road construction and maintenance
  • Experience in infrastructure asset management
  • Developed project and contractor management skills
  • Strong people and leadership skills
  • Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal

Key Requirements
  • C Class Drivers Licence (HC or HR desirable)
  • Practical experience in footpath and drainage construction and maintenance works and supervising of town works
  • Experience in developing planning implementing and finalising projects and road programs and asset management planning
  • Practical experience in the construction and maintenance of roads for local or public authorities or private contractors

The Benefits
  • The successful applicant will be offered a three-year contract with a remuneration package between $145707 and $169107 per annum depending on skills and experience
  • Normal working hours will be 7.00am to 4.00pm with one-hour lunch break
  • The position accrues one Rostered Day Off per month as additional hours of work are required to attend meetings or requirements of the position
  • You will be provided an executive residence and negotiated private use of a motor vehicle
