Job Description
We are seeking applicants to fill multiple positions in our thriving prelicensure BSN program. The ideal candidate for a Clinical/Applied Assistant Professor of Nursing will demonstrate clinical practice knowledge and experience professional productivity as evidenced by sustained excellence and innovation in their clinical practice and service to academic professional and relevant community organizations. The initial Clinical/Applied contract is 12 years and subsequent longerterm contracts are based on review of performance and the continuing need for the position.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate for Clinical/Applied Assistant Professor of Nursing will demonstrate expertise in baccalaureate nursing education including experience in leading courses programs and/or tracks within a program. All faculty are expected to actively participate in departmental and college committees advise students contribute to student recruitment and retention and actively collaborate with the department chair faculty and staff as well as clinical partners to effectively deliver the academic program. Additionally faculty are responsible for course development curriculum design and assessment to ensure compliance with all curricular contentrelated to AACN and CCNE standards. The successful applicant will teach courses in nursing in the classroom laboratory clinical and simulation teachinglearning environments. There will also be opportunities to teach in our innovative University Interdisciplinary Studies program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professional productivity as evidenced by sustained excellence and innovation in their clinical/applied practice and service to academic professional or Hartford area communities. Candidates will be expected to remain active in clinical or professional practice and contribute to the profession through publications presentations or other publicly disseminated work. Clinical/Applied Assistant Professor of Nursing faculty are expected to engage in professional productivity such as consulting as well as to actively participate in departmental and school committees advise students and contribute to student recruitment and retention. Required Qualifications
Required Credential: A Master of Science degree in nursing by date of appointment. Applicants with a nonnursing masters degree must have a doctorate (PhD EdD DNP DNSc) in nursing. An unencumbered Connecticut RN License by the date of appointment. Preferred Credential: A Master of Science degree in nursing with a focus on nursing education. A doctorate (PhD EdD DNP DNSc) in nursing or related discipline. Preferred: Experience performing nursing program assessment and participating in program accreditation by CCNE . Experience teaching nursing courses that include Health Assessment MedicalSurgical MaternalChild Pediatrics Behavioral/Mental Health Community Health Leadership and/or Research in Nursing. Experience teaching and advising diverse nursing student populations in higher education or practice setting. Candidates are encouraged to describe any particular expertise in curriculum development related to inclusivity and belonging in nursing and nursing education.
