The Director of Strategic Partnerships EEDI is responsible for developing leading and overseeing strategies that cultivate and manage external partnerships reinforcing AbbVies commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment both internally and externally. Contributions in this role will drive innovation and inclusion aligning with AbbVies core mission to make possibilities real for patients.
This position is essential for establishing AbbVie as best in class in demonstrating the powerful effects of Equity Equality Diversity and Inclusion on organizational and team culture customer engagement and community relations. Additionally it plays a pivotal role in advancing human capital strategies within AbbVies ESG roadmap.
The impact of this role will ensure that AbbVie continues to thrive as a leader in diversity and inclusion promoting progress and opportunities across the organization and its connected communities.
- Strategic Partnership Development:
- Develop and execute EEDI partnership strategies that align with AbbVies mission Business and HR strategic objectives.
- Assess the current landscape of external EEDI partners and strategies including Conferences Submissions/Awards Academic partners such as HBCUs and HSIs ERGs Functional and Enterprise initiatives to determine approaches that maximize value and outcomes.
- Identify evaluate and build relationships with potential new partners including Talent/Culture/EEDI organizations advocacy and community groups professional organizations and academic institutions to advance EEDI efforts.
- Leadership in EEDI Partnership Program Execution and Governance:
- Oversee the planning development and execution of EEDI initiatives and programs leveraging partnerships for optimal impact.
- Integrate partnership activities into broader AbbVie EEDI programs to ensure synergy and alignment with corporate goals.
- Establish a governance model that advances programs and strategies while maintaining consistency in approach and oversight.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage the current team while developing future roles and responsibilities in alignment with strategy and desired impact.
- Collaborative Relationship Building:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key partners to drive EEDI initiatives across AbbVie including Talent Culture ESG Philanthropy and ERGs.
- Serve as an AbbVie ambassador in external EEDI collaborations ensuring mutual benefits and shared goals.
- Advocacy Communication and Engagement:
- Increase awareness of EEDI partnerships and initiatives within AbbVie and among external partners.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to highlight the impact and successes of EEDI partnerships both internally and externally.
- Engage internal communities to maximize activation and engagement with strategic partners.
- Impact Assessment and Continuous Improvement:
- Establish metrics to evaluate the success and impact of EEDI partnership initiatives.
- Report partnership outcomes and progress to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the budget for EEDI strategic partnerships ensuring the effective and efficient allocation of resources. This includes the approach for funding between HR and Business budget allocations.
Qualifications :
- 4 years of experience in diversity equity and inclusion.
- 6 years HR / legal / compliance experience including managing sensitive data.
- Broad multi-stakeholder experience.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to weave External partnerships into company objectives including making a business case for systemic investments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a partnership framework that connects to an organizations mission and business strategy and approaches problems from a perspective of growth and scalability.
- Experience working in mid-to-large global and matrix organizations in a complex work environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- Proven track record of leading and implementing large-scale programs and projects.
- High organization and detail orientation with a successful track record of executing initiatives from start to finish.
- Ability to influence people without direct authority to achieve solutions.
- Effectively uses data to tell a story or create a narrative for change.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills plus interpersonal and presentation skills to drive results.

- Acts with authority in decision-making situations and takes on decision-making roles amidst uncertainty when necessary.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
