Position Summary

Visiting Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice

Guilford College invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Program to begin August 2025. The program is located in the Justice and Policy Studies Department. As the department grows the possibility exists that the contract length could be extended. The Criminal Justice undergraduate and graduate programs examine the policy history and problems of the criminal justice system while making significant connections to the social issues that have an impact on its operation. The candidate will be expected to teach introductory and upper level undergraduate and graduate courses that may include but are not limited to: Inquiry into Criminal Justice Research Methods and Criminology.

The applicant should be able to demonstrate the ability to help diverse students to develop skills for both undergraduate and graduate study and for employment in both public and private criminal justice organizations. A terminal degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. criminal justice) is highly recommended and ABDs will be considered. Successful experience in college teaching and in a workrelated field are preferred.
