Job Description

Systems Planning and Engineering Support Services
Macdill Air Force Base Tampa FL

The Systems Planning and Engineering Support Services assists the United States Marine Corps Forces Central Command (MARCENT) and subordinate commands by serving within the communication directorate task area. The positions primary mission involves providing communication support to MARCENT as well as command control communications and computer (C4 policy advocacy to CENTCOM Communications (CCJ6 and HQMC agencies. The Systems Planning and Engineering Support Services directly supports MARCENT G6 in the implementation and of its required functions including planning design implementation and technical and operational support of wide area communications systems and engineering to ensure the efficient of MARCENT OAMS tasks both within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside the continental United States (OCONUS). The Systems Planning and Engineering Support Services will perform the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide services for the planning design and implementation of wide area communications systems and engineering for the commercialization of deployed communications and network management for the MARFORCENT Theater.
  • Provide technical and operational support including subject matter expertise for Frequency Division Multiple Accesses (FDMA) Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Tactical Satellite (TACSAT) Global Broadcast Satellite (GBS) and other satellite communication (SATCOM) networks.
  • Assist in configuring networks monitoring systems activating remote terminals as well as tracking and resolving SATCOM incident reports and problems related to baseband intermediate frequency (IF) and RF communications.
  • Submit and analyze Satellite Access Gateway Access via the Joint Integrated SATCOM (Satellite Communication) Tool.
  • Provide engineering and commercialization management during the development of communication systems that include a wide array of CommercialOffthe Shelf (COTS) assets networking and transmission equipment that may include routers servers switches microwave fiber etc.
  • Develop engineering diagrams that include operation and system level views while executing sound engineering change management process.

EDUCATION

  • HS diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum ten years of military experience.
  • Experience in planning and designing wide area communications systems including both commercial and military systems.
  • Experience in configuring networks monitoring systems and managing remote terminals including resolving issues related to SATCOM and RF communications.
  • Background in managing engineering projects for communications systems including the integration of COTS assets and networking equipment.

CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge in the design planning and implementation of wide area communications systems.
  • Expertise in technical and operational support for various satellite communication (SATCOM) networks and systems such as FDMA TDMA UHF TACSAT and GBS.
  • Ability to develop and interpret engineering diagrams and execute engineering change management processes.
  • Advanced proficiency with groupware applications (SharePoint MS Teams) and the Microsoft Office suite (Word Power Point Excel etc. desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.

SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS

  • Travel is required.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid drivers license current automobile insurance and a driving record that is acceptable to the companys auto insurance provider.

SECURITY CLEARANCE

  • A TS/SCI clearance is required for this position.
