Head of Model Operations Global Insight

The Team:

Global Insight (GI) is a $400M business line that combines Research Data Analytics Workflow Expert and Consulting Services to enable market participants to gain insight into global economics and trade assess manage monetize and monitor risk. The Business Lines include Global Risk & Economics Global Trade & Supply Chain Third Party Risk & Compliance delivered through Desktop Enterprise platforms (including APIs Feeds and cloud) consulting and thirdparty platforms.

The Impact:

The Head of Model Operations will develop a bestinclass operations function that will partner with the Product Analytical and Model teams across GI to deliver differentiated solutions to our target market.

They will lead a dedicated team responsible for overseeing and managing our advanced data pipelines and models with a primary focus on timeseries analysis.

Contribute to the overall businesss organic and inorganic growth Product and Business strategy as well as its and connect with the industry to monitor trends and build our brand.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Model Operations Strategy
    • Identify and prioritize existing solutions that need to be automated and productized via Model Operations in partnership with GI Product New Business Development Business Lines Analytical and Model teams.
  • Oversee the data and model pipeline lifecycle from automated data collection cleaning enrichment forecasting reconciliation and publication.
  • Collaborate closely with data science and engineering teams as well as business stakeholders ensuring our automated pipelines remain robust effective and aligned with strategic business objectives
  • Identify opportunities to scale and graduate models to technology teams working in partnership with the Product and the Model and Scenario teams as well as the S&P Global Enterprise Data Office to leverage resources and ensure tight collaboration.
  • Drive continuous improvement of data pipelines with a focus on automation enhanced monitoring and alerting systems streamlined operational workflows and optimized resolution procedures.
  • Model Operations
  • Ensure continuous reliable and accurate of model operations by monitoring automated processes swiftly identifying issues maintaining rigorous data and forecasting quality standards and promptly implementing corrective measures.
  • Continuously monitor pipeline performance proactively identifying investigating and resolving issues that arise in production environments.
  • Ensure that robust data quality and governance standards are maintained across all stages of our modelling and data pipelines.
  • Enterprise Mindset:
    • Collaborate across teams within S&P Global to ensure optimal resource allocation and seamless flow of partial deliverables across the teams timelines.
    • Contribute to the Global Insight Product and Business strategy including partnerships inorganic growth and innovation opportunities.
  • Team Management: Design build and coach the team responsible for monitoring and automating the of model pipelines.

Experience/Skills:

  • 8 years of relevant experience including 3 years managing operations for data processing teams.
  • Proven experience managing timeseries forecasting data pipelines in a production environment.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Python and/or R and familiarity with forecasting libraries frameworks and tools.
  • Demonstrated expertise with data infrastructure technologies and services such as Snowflake AWS (particularly S3 and APIbased data exchange.
  • Extensive experience with data quality management and monitoring.
  • Proven analytical and problemsolving skills particularly in identifying root causes and swiftly resolving issues in complex automated workflows.
  • Proven communication and leadership skills with the ability to effectively engage with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Prior experience in economics and timeseries enrichment and forecasting
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines DevOps methodologies and cloudnative solutions.
