Providing Regulatory Oversight for Our States Financial Service Providers

At the Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) we protect consumers and advance the financial health of Washington State by providing fair regulation of financial services and educating consumers to make informed financial decisions.

The Washington Saves program aims to enhance financial security and promote retirement savings among Washington residents by providing a simple accessible and portable savings solution for workers.

The Management Analyst for Washington Saves (WA Saves) serves as a critical partner to the Program Manager in developing implementing and managing the new statewide retirement savings program. This position provides project management regulatory coordination risk monitoring and administrative support to ensure the programs success. The incumbent will act as a key advisor and assist in strategic planning business plan oversight project management and internal administrative operations.

Duties

Some of What You Will Do:

  • Perform analysis research complex administrative duties as assigned or delegated gather and prepare information for the WA Saves Program Manager and Board.
  • Coordinate WA Saves Board logistics including dispersal of Board meetings and Board member briefings prepare Board meeting agendas and meeting materials assist with preparation of meeting minutes and record decisions made by the Board.
  • Monitor key initiatives and ensure timelines deliverables and milestones are on track for timely completion.
  • Report out and provide recommendations based on analysis research and best practices to the Program Manager and Board. Facilitate strategic planning sessions gathering input from stakeholders and staff.
  • Manage program administrative functions including records management procurement logistics and scheduling of meetings project tracking and day to day office operations.
  • Oversee compliance with State Administrative & Accounting Manual (SAAM) and other relevant policies related to expenditures travel contracting budget and accounting. Engage with other DFI partners on compliance in these areas.
  • Coordinate travel arrangement and prepare travel authorizations for WA Saves program staff and Board.
  • Record and reconcile the Programs budget and tracks spending. Review and verify financial reports for accuracy.
  • Maintain the Programs publicfacing materials such as the FAQ to ensure accuracy plain language and clarity in collaboration with the Programs Communications Consultants and the DFI Communications Team.
  • Ensure that internal policies and procedures are documented and regularly updated.
  • Review and monitor identified risks and report updates of changes to the WA Saves Program Manager and the Board.
  • Provide administrative support to the Program Manager including calendar management scheduling of meetings attendance and note taking at meetings on behalf of the Program Manager review and preparation of correspondence preparing reports and other duties as assigned or delegated.

Qualifications

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced research and analytical skills.

  • Detail oriented with proficient editing and proofreading skills.

  • Advanced experience in project management.

  • Contracting and procurement experience.

  • Strong communication skills: verbal written and active listening.

  • Experience with and working understanding of the SAAM RCW WAC policies etc.

  • Experience with financial services retirement programs etc.

  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to work within diverse teams of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Highly motivated and a selfstarter.

  • Experience in developing new programs procedures rules work process/functions etc.

  • A strong passion for creating and fostering financial inclusion and economic justice (Equity competency).

The DFI employs a hybrid work schedule of office and telework; your specific work schedule will be determined by your supervisor. Your official work station will be the Tumwater headquarters office.
