The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national peak body representing 146 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs). ACCHOs deliver comprehensive primary health care to more than half of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally. As an act of selfdetermination these services address all matters affecting health and wellbeing spanning transformative community empowerment through to individual health treatments and continuity of care.
NACCHOs work is focused on supporting the work of ACCHOs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people overall through negotiating and advocating with Governments on health care policies and programs and systems reform. These issues range in a variety from chronic disease management preventative health strategies telehealth listings of Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) to the social determinants of health.
NACCHOs partnerships with organisations including: The Royal College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Royal College of Physicians and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia greatly contributes significantly to enhancing health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
About the Role
The Program Officer is responsible for delivering NACCHOs support role for the national quality use of medicine program Indigenous Health Services Pharmacy Support (IHSPS) Program and its arrangements for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) across Australia; the role may support various other related projects and policy activities from time to time.
This position forms part of the NACCHO medicines team that supports medicines and pharmaceutical programs and provision of program management and policy advice in relation to health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
