Your next career opportunity
As Research Fellow you will contribute to an ARCfunded project that advances macroeconomic and financial modelling. Working alongside leading researchers from the University of Melbourne Australian National University and the University of York you will refine and apply econometric techniques to improve the analysis of extreme economic events. Your work will involve developing statistical methodologies coding analytical tools and producing research with realworld policy impact. This position offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your expertise in econometrics while engaging with policymakers and academic collaborators to drive meaningful economic insights.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting advanced research in macroeconomic and financial modelling collaborating with national and international partners.
  • Enhancing economic models to better account for extreme events and addressing technical challenges in estimating rare highimpact occurrences.
  • Developing analytical tools for policy evaluation including counterfactual analysis forecasting and network visualisation.
  • Communicating findings through academic publications policy reports workshops and direct engagement with policymakers.

You are an independent and driven researcher with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for tackling complex economic challenges. Your ability to problemsolve think critically and communicate effectively is crucial to success in this role. A collaborative team player you will demonstrate initiative in shaping research outputs and engaging with diverse stakeholders. Your meticulous attention to detail and commitment to producing highquality research will enable you to contribute meaningfully to the projects goals.

You may also:

  • Hold a PhD (or are near completion) in econometrics statistics or a related field.
  • Possess advanced econometric programming skills particularly in R.
  • Demonstrate strong problemsolving abilities and excellent research documentation practices.
  • Have a track record of producing highquality communications with the ability to translate research into accessible reports and presentations.
