Are you passionate about improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities through personcentred evidencebased approaches We are seeking a dedicated Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner to join our team at Independent Support Management (ISM) working within the guidelines set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans ensuring compliance with the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework and NDIS rules on restrictive practices.
- Conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments and work collaboratively with participants their families and stakeholders to design effective personcentred strategies that enhance quality of life.
- Monitor and evaluate PBS plans ensuring they are achieving desired outcomes and adjusting plans as necessary to remain in line with NDIS guidelines.
- Provide training and support to families carers and other support staff to ensure consistent and ethical application of PBS plans.
- Ensure all behaviour support plans are developed in accordance with NDIS rules including those that involve restrictive practices and follow protocols for approval where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records prepare reports and complete documentation in line with NDIS requirements.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications in Psychology Social Work Occupational Therapy or a related field.
- Proven experience in Positive Behaviour Support including working with individuals with complex behaviours and understanding the NDIS requirements for restrictive practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to working collaboratively with participants and their support networks.
- Thorough knowledge of the NDIS framework particularly in behaviour support and restrictive practices and a commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of people with disabilities.
- Current drivers licence and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the NDIS Commissions Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework and experience applying evidencebased least restrictive alternatives in behaviour support plans.
- Experience with NDIS reporting compliance and maintaining behaviour support practitioner registration through the NDIS Commission.
