Position Details

The Department of Music within the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Tampa seeks a full time appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Choral Director/Music Education for a one year position to begin August 2025.


The University of Tampa is a mediumsized comprehensive residentiallybased private institution of more than 11000 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110acre campus next to the Hillsborough River adjacent to Tampas dynamic central business district which is a growing vibrant diverse metropolitan area. The primary responsibilities of this position are to conduct choral ensembles and to teach music education courses. We seek a faculty member with a passion for music education who will work to maintain a high quality collegiate choral program. The successful candidate will also be willing to participate in recruitment and outreach activities on and off campus. Additional responsibilities include teaching aural skills choral conducting and choral methods (depending on experience).


Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in music
At least one degree in choral conducting and one degree in music education
Successful record of teaching experience in K12 and/or college level

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a fulltime basis

Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching aural skills
Demonstrated success as a music educator and choral director
Evidence of and/or commitment to outreach and recruitment
DMA in choral conducting or music education
