DIRECTOR COMMITTEE ON ANIMAL CARE (CAC) OFFICE Office of the Vice President for Research to collaborate closely with the CAC chair and the CAC program manager and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of MITs Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) office. Will serve as an alternate to the chair and as a scientific member of the committee. Responsibilities include conducting protocol reviews and performing site visits to vivaria and laboratories often under tight deadlines; representing the chair during both announced and unannounced site visits from external oversight agencies (e.g. USDA NIH DOD Cambridge Commissioner and AAALAC) including preparing for and responding to these visits; and performing a variety of other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Ph.D. or similar doctorate in a relevant discipline and experience in animal research; familiarity with regulations and guidelines that govern animal research preferably gained through threeplus years of direct experience working with an IACUC and/or formal training in IACUC administration; management (program and/or personnel) and/or leadership experience; excellent customer service and written and oral communication skills including during telephone text email and inperson exchanges; ability to demonstrate diplomacy during difficult conversations; and discretion and good judgment with confidential information. Must be able to work effectively as part of a team and foster a collaborative work environment work with minimal supervision in a highvolume environment and oversee and prioritize multiple diverse tasks while paying attention to detail and deadlines.PREFERRED: training and certification in IACUC administration (CPIA) or willingness to seek such training and certification within one year.Job #2437011
