The Palmer Civil Division is accepting applications for a Court Case Manager 2 (salary range 12. Under general direction the incumbent will perform administrative and paralegal duties in the civil department assist the department supervisor in daytoday operations and training and provide backup support to other positions.



Regular duties will include:

  • Act as legal technician for civil cases including dissolutions name changes protective orders appeals and postconviction relief;
  • Screen all civil pleadings that require the courts or clerks determination tickle matters until such time as they are ripe or technically complete for signature;
  • Review all documents for proper use of forms and technical compliance with applicable rules and statutes and take appropriate action. Process and route all ripe matters with notations to the court or clerk;
  • Process requests for defaults and default judgment for civil cases (including as back up for small claims defaults). Distribute copies of all judgments and orders to attorneys and/or parties of record. Ensure files are organized and complete;
  • Respond to inquiries in writing in person or by phone from court personnel attorneys agencies and the general public regarding policies procedures and rules. Act as the go to person for complex questions from customers and staff. Work closely with the judges and their support staff;
  • Enter dockets motions dispositions judicial reassignments parties and attorneys into the computer case management system. Process ticklers and Civil Rules 4(j) and 41(e) reports. Docket screen entries and maintain the motion tracking program including but not limited to initial docket entries modifications to ensure accurate motion type dates or judicial department;
  • Serve as lead worker and assist the supervisor particularly in training of new clerks in civil customer service small claims and vital statistics functions. Participate on the interview panel for vacancies within their expertise.


The Work Hours
Fulltime court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a onehour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).

OR

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a twoyear paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).

OR

A bachelors degree from an accredited college AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).
