Sets up and operates conventional specialpurpose and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic parts and fits and assembles machined parts into complete units applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures shop mathematics machinability of materials and layout techniques.
Technically proficient in the machining trade.
Is selfmotivated and proactive in addressing needs and issues.
Read blueprints sketches and follows verbal instructions. Assist in ordering receiving and storing material and supplies.
Understands upcoming work and requirements for the work communicates needs before they impede production.
Maintains dimensional logs for all the work and jobs that go across their machines.
Education requirements or equivalent experience:
Minimum high school diploma or GED or equivalent
One year of technical school or five years of machining experience.
Completion of fouryear apprentice program in a Machining
Able to read write basic math (fractions decimals and trigonometry).
Proficiency using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers calipers gauges etc.
Read and interpret complicated drawings.
Able to operate overhead and jib cranes.
Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal diagram or schedule form.
Able to solve complex technical problems with limited direction.
