Job Description

8 months contract with local authority

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our project team the Progression and Next Steps Team within the Learning Disability Service. As a Learning Disability Social Worker you will play a crucial role in completing reassessments of individuals in residential care settings with the aim of transitioning them into less restrictive care environments such as supported living or shared lives. Additionally you will be responsible for upskilling individuals within care settings to reduce reliance on commissioned care. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate expertise in strength-based assessments evidence-based support and negotiating costs. This role also requires legal literacy to undertake Mental Capacity Act (MCA) Best Interests (BI) and Court of Protection (CoP) work. The candidate will be expected to achieve savings targets attached to the project.


Requirements


  • Background in working with adults with learning disabilities ADHD and Autism
  • Completed ASYE and 2 years post-qualifying experience
  • Experience in learning disability social work team
  • Proficient in strength-based assessment and reviews
  • Legal literacy with a good working knowledge of legislation including MCA DoLS Safeguarding and Care Act
  • Excellent assessment analytical communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to undertake face-to-face assessments and reviews
  • Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD)


Requirements: Proven experience in quality assurance and reviewing services for children and young people Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory safeguarding requirements Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Commitment to championing the rights and well-being of children and young people
