Director Public Affairs
We are looking for an experienced leader in public affairs with a passion for communications public and government relations to join Rogers Corporate Brand and Communications team.
Reporting to the Senior Director of External Communications theDirector Public Affairsleads a team that supports the companys regulatory legal and corporate affairs functions driving proactive programs in support of building and protecting the companys reputation with a specific focus on public affairs advocacy and media relations.
Who you are...
What you will do...
Leads in the development and delivery of communications plans in support of Rogers regulatory and corporate affairs functions.
Partners with Legal Regulatory and Corporate Affairs teams to manage government and regulatory issues and develop and deliver a proactive public affairs and advocacy strategy that deepens connections and helps influence key external stakeholders.
Works oneonone with senior leaders to advise and draft key messaging speeches external presentations effectively capturing content and tone.
Proactively develops and maintains relationships with industry and media contacts to stay informed and connected to relevant current trends and potential changes in the political and social environment(s) in which Rogers operates.
Supports Rogers media relations activities by providing strategic advice on media strategy counsel on issues and identifying opportunities that will drive proactive media coverage for regulatory and corporate affairs activities.
Supports internal communications program and initiatives for Legal Regulatory and Corporate Affairs teams.
Leads collaborative team of communications professionals providing direction assignments of work and performance management. Contributes to growth and development of direct reports.
What you bring...
15 years experience in public affairs corporate communications with experience in media relations issues management public company communications preferably in a highly regulated industry; experience in telecommunications sector an asset.
Proven ability to recognize impactful policy trends translating those insights into actionable ideas into a cohesive communications strategy.
Resultsdriven creative and collaborative team member who thrives in a fastpaced environment.
Expert communication skills (verbal/written/presentation); capable of distilling complex information into simple key messages.
Expert strategic thinking skills and judgement with indepth project management skills.
Extensive experience providing strategic counsel to senior executives and ability to influence and persuade across all levels of the organization.
Experience leading teams with proven experience in systematic team governance and performance management.
Ability to meet deadlines dig into files navigate a complex matrix organization and demonstrate a sense of urgency.
Bilingual (English/French) an asset.
