As an Estimator you will prepare estimates and deliver quotes that are prepared timeously accurately and well thought through.
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely quotes providing solutions for various transport modes and incoterms while maximizing profitability. The role also involves sourcing service providers strengthening supplier relationships and educating both internal and external stakeholders to enhance service offerings.
DUTIES:- Contribute to the overall increase of GP through excellent turn around times and attention to detail.
- Operate within agreed expenditure budget.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Awareness of international trade and associated risks rules and regulations.
- Provide accurate and timeous reports as requested by management on a monthly basis.
- Staying up to date with current market and trends.
- Input into own personal development plan.
- Build solid product/service and industry knowledge.
- Receive quote requests log them on the system and provide feedback regarding outstanding info required or expected completion date/time.
- Communicate any delays or potential problems with estimates.
- Tracking of shipments.
- Deal with daily request and queries.
- Build and maintain strong relations with clients suppliers and colleagues.
- Escalate unresolved complaints to management.
- Continuously seek opportunities to add value to the team and build the business.
- Communicate any delays or potential problems with shipment bookings and/or documentation. Maintain schedules; shipping line charges for various shipping lines for import export and break bulk etc.
- Assist with collating info for certificates of origin SADC certificates permits etc.
- Assist with processing shipping documentation i.e. bills of lading submitting shipping instructions.
- Assist with processing of cargo dues orders.
- Deal with daily request/queries by controllers and customers.
- Escalate unresolved complaints to management.
QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS- South African citizen.
- Code B drivers license and own transport.
- Willing to work overtime and be available after business hours if and when required.
- Senior certificate (NQF 4. Relevant tertiary qualification will be beneficial.
- Sales and negotiation skills related training.
- 35 Years proven experience in the Clearing & Forwarding and/or supply chain industry. Knowledge and understanding of the Clearing & Forwarding industry including full supply chain import and export process flows.
- Well groomed friendly and professional.
- Ability to enter new markets.
- Extremely good communication with internal and external clients and suppliers.
- Strong understanding of client and market dynamics and requirements.
- Excellent English and Afrikaans oral and written communication skills.
- Computer literate (MS Office). Shipshape beneficial.
- High degree of accuracy understanding of basic aspects of costing within the supply chain. Strong analytical skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail ability to work under pressure and be deadline driven.
The salary bracket for the role is around R23k R26k CTC p/m. Note that it is the clients prerogative regardless of advertised package to offer a market related salary considering the candidates qualifications skills and level of experience.
