Special Education Teacher Job Description
Location – Dorchester MA
Position: FullTime Special Education Teacher

Overview:
ExpertHiring is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. This role is ideal for an educator committed to providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. The teacher will work closely with students families and school staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet student needs.

  • Provide differentiated instruction and accommodations to ensure access to the general education curriculum.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers support staff and families to ensure student success.

  • Assess student progress using formal and informal evaluations and adjust instruction accordingly.

  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education laws and regulations.

  • Advocate for students with disabilities and promote an inclusive school culture.

  • Participate in IEP meetings parentteacher conferences and professional development sessions.

  • Utilize evidencebased instructional strategies to support academic social and emotional growth.

  • Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior intervention strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.

  • Valid Massachusetts teaching certification in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities PreK8 or 512.

  • Experience working with students with disabilities in an inclusive or resource setting.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

  • Commitment to diversity equity and inclusion in education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in urban education or charter school settings.

  • Knowledge of traumainformed teaching practices and restorative justice approaches.

  • Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive learning strategies.
