Description

About the role

Were looking for a Senior People Advisor to provide advice on people related matters across all stages of the employment lifecycle. In this key role youll support the Head of People with Employee Relations; policy interpretation and updates; legislative and regulatory compliance; culture & engagement and other People related initiatives.

The Senior People Advisor is a high trust role providing coaching and mentoring to leaders on people leadership performance improvement and employee engagement strategies.

Based in the Brisbane Head Office this hybrid role will see you working two days Monday and Wednesday from the office and three days remotely with visits to our Southeast Queensland schools and beyond as needed.

Some of the typical activities you will engage in to achieve these outcomes include:

Employee & Industrial Relations

  • Oversee performance management supporting managers to conduct reviews and give feedback.
  • Provide expert guidance to leaders on performance issues and workplace complaints facilitating documentation and followup to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Case management activities relating to conduct performance or health management matters conducting investigations and conflict resolution at schools.
  • Work collaboratively to support the WHS Advisor on issues incidents and return to work plans.
  • Interpret Awards Enterprise Agreements relevant legislation and provide IR advice.
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of current employment relations frameworks and legislation.

Compliance & Policy Development

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws maintain accurate records manage leave oversee workforce planning and uphold WHS standards.
  • Develop and implement policies ensuring compliance with Fair Work legislation Modern Awards and National Employment Standards.
  • Oversee the Position Description library collaborating with key stakeholders providing recommendations on improvements.

People & Culture

  • Oversee key annual processes such as WGEA reporting; the Employee Engagement Survey; and the Performance Review process.
  • Support the People Coordinator to ensure alignment across recruitment onboarding payroll IT asset management and business processes.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to People workflows systems and processes to elevate the employee experience.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of employee wellbeing engagement and retention programs.
  • Plan and execute teambuilding activities and cultural events. Support engagement surveys analyse trends and action improvements to boost satisfaction.
  • Projects & Innovation: Identify improved ways of delivering People services and undertake projects as needed.
  • Provide datadriven insights through HR reporting and analytics.

Skills And Experiences

About You

To be successful in this role you will bring the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or related discipline.
  • 35 years HR or generalist advisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations HR best practices and industry trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with HR systems and tools.
  • Analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to analyse data identify trends and develop solutions.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare and present highlevel advice documents formal submissions and reports.
  • Ability to demonstrate The Industry School values.
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or QCT Registration.
  • Valid driver licence & right to work in Australia.

Desirable

  • Experience liaising and working with Unions Workcover & the Fair Work Commission to deliver positive business and employee outcomes.
  • Experience with EBA negotiation.
  • Skill and experience in administering HR strategies in complex and diverse organisations.
