DescriptionThe Coordinator of Pharmacy Supplies works closely with the Manager and Director of Pharmacy Supplies along with other Pharmacy purchasing staff; and performs the following duties to assigned sites across Mayo Midwest: ensures effective procurement and inventory of medication and supplies; timely and effectively responds to medication shortages and recalls; ensures implementation and compliance with all contracts; ensures accurate pricing and billing of medications; and ensures accurate and timely return or destruction of pharmaceuticals.
The Coordinator will effectively perform the activities and duties of the Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist position; and maintain competency and routinely perform advanced purchasing duties including:
- Coordination of product changes across Mayo Midwest
- Ensuring contract compliance
- Managing drug shortages across Mayo Midwest
- Managing recalls across Mayo Midwest
- Management of the Critical Drug/Antidote List and inventory
- Oversight of the consignment programs across Mayo Midwest
- Ordering and management of seasonal flu vaccine for Mayo Midwest
- Management of the Vizient Plasma Program for Mayo Midwest
- Provide backup coverage for purchasing specialist absences in Mayo Midwest
- Assisting with the interviewing; hiring; training and ongoing mentoring of purchasing specialists
- Assisting with the writing of purchasing policies and SOPs
QualificationsQualifications
- Bachelors degree (business management accounting or related field) AND 2 years of pharmacy purchasing specialist experience;
OR
- Twoyear college degree (healthcare or business preferred) AND 4 years pharmacy purchasing specialist experience;
OR
- High school diploma/GED AND 6 years pharmacy purchasing specialist experience.
Additional Qualifications
- Effectively reads writes speaks and understands English. Strong leadership skills. Must be detailedoriented; able to prioritize work and able to work independently under general guidelines and procedures. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills; computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications; work collaboratively with others and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Formal training in purchasing or inventory management preferred.
- No history of drug abuse or misuse or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.
License or Certification
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
- Current registration with the MN Board of Pharmacy or eligibility for registration.
