Job Description

The Waste and Recycling Processing Manager has overall responsibility for all solid waste processing and recycling facilities including landfill operations. They will lead our recycling operations and organics processing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing key metrics enhancing productivity and driving innovation to promote waste diversion and sustainability initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with GM and management team to set and/or implement policies procedures and systems and to follow through with implementation.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of recycling facilities organics processing facility and landfill operations to ensure efficient and effective processing of materials.
  • Develop and maintain key performance metrics related to recycling and organics processing operations focusing on productivity waste diversion rates and environmental impact.
  • Implement strategies to optimize processing workflows improve operational efficiency and maximize resource recovery.
  • Lead efforts to innovate and promote waste diversion initiatives including exploring new technologies processes and partnerships to enhance recycling and organics processing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including sustainability operations and compliance to drive continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations safety standards and company policies in all recycling and organics processing activities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of staff members including supervisors operators and support staff to achieve operational goals and objectives.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations provide feedback and support the professional development of team members.
  • Monitor industry trends market demands and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for growth innovation and improvement in recycling and organics processing operations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders partners and regulatory agencies to support the companys waste diversion and sustainability goals.
  • Primarily based in the Ottawa area with some travel

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Engineering Business or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in managing recycling facilities organics processing facilities or waste management operations.
  • Strong knowledge of recycling processes organics processing technologies and waste diversion strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead a diverse team and drive operational excellence.
  • Excellent analytical abilities problemsolving skills and proficiency in developing and implementing key performance indicators.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with internal teams external partners and regulatory agencies.
  • Passion for sustainability waste diversion and environmental stewardship in the waste management industry.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid DZ license
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel GPS systems TRUX (asset)
  • Knowledge of the waste industry
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to be highly organized and multi task
  • Ability to make decisions independently
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Ottawa area (routes etc.
  • Problem solve without hesitation
