Description
This position is a contract, virtual 1099 position. The ideal candidate will have experience in the area of Estate Planning & Probate, including Elder / Guardianship and Conservatorship. Candidates should have experience with Colorado Law and Procedure. Colorado resident preferred but not required if proof of Colorado experience can be shown.
Candidates should be proficient in the collection and organization of documents and information from various cases at the firm, meeting with and assisting clients via phone or zoom, obtaining and drafting all documentation needed for the filing of probate and estate matters, drafting pleadings and discovery etc. This candidate should feel comfortable relaying messages between various groups and keeping all documents important to the cases they are working on organized in an online database. A team player and ability to work well independently while maintaining a high level of timeliness and attention to detail is a must.

Hours and Compensation
- Hours: Up to 30 hours per week.
- Compensation: Compensation is $30 per hour. Payroll is bi-monthly and this is a 1099 contract position.
Responsibilities
- Draft litigation documents, obtain and draft documentation with regards to probate and estate planning and be familiar with all aspects of probate and estate planning law in the State of Colorado
- Review and edit legal documents pertaining to probate and estate planning law in the State of Colorado
- E-Filing, drafting pleadings, motions and notices, propounding and answering discovery
- Calendaring deadlines, scheduling of hearings, depositions, etc.
- Meeting with clients via phone or zoom when necessary
- Create and maintain electronic case files
- Facilitate the meeting of attorney deadlines by keeping organized schedules and providing timely reminders
- Conduct legal research

Qualifications
- Experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in the above listed areas for 5+ years
- Status must be a full-time freelancer; must not have prior commitments as a W2 employee
- Daytime availability, Monday - Friday
- Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate
