As an industry association we advocate for optimal framework conditions for AI innovations and actively shape the political and social debate on AI. We represent around 500 highly innovative German AI startups scaleups companies and experts. We are well connected in the German and European AI ecosystem and a soughtafter dialogue partner for policymakers who want to see an innovationfriendly and responsible approach to the most important technology of our time. The German AI Association is also a founding member of Europes largest AI umbrella organisation the European AI Forum.
We are looking for a Junior Associate EU Affairs (Paid Traineeship) to join us fulltime in Brussels for 6 12 months (flexible).
Tasks
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
As a Junior Associate EU Affairs you will be part of our Public Affairs team reporting to our Managing Director and Head of Public Affairs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Public Affairs team with daytoday tasks
- Drafting statements reports briefings and contributing to policy papers
- Conducting desk research on various EUrelated digital policy issues
- Attending internal and external meetings including taking minutes
- Monitoring EU policy developments
- Communicating with members and external stakeholders
- Supporting the work of the European AI Forum
Requirements
Your Profile:
- You are a recent graduate with at least a Bachelors degree or are currently studying politics law international relations EU affairs or a related field.
- You have gained initial experience through internships or work in the field of (EU) policy and communication.
- You have a solid understanding of EU institutions legislative processes and key policy actors complemented by a keen interest in AI and digital policy.
- Your excellent organisational and communication skills enable you to work effectively in a dynamic environment. You have strong analytical skills attention to detail and a resultsoriented approach.
- You are fluent in both German and English and have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proactive handson and reliable you thrive in a team environment and are eager to take on responsibility.

- The paid traineeship is limited to a period of 612 months (flexible).
- Only EU nationals or students who have the necessary paperwork in place to legally take a placement in Belgium will be considered.
