The HIM Operations Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the operational functions of the Health Information Management department. This role ensures that health information is collected processed stored and maintained according to regulatory and organizational standards while also enhancing the efficiency and quality of HIM operations. The HIM Operations Director will work closely with other healthcare professionals administrators and IT departments to support optimal patient care and compliance.
What you will do:

Provide strategic direction and leadership to the HIM department.
Supervise mentor and evaluate HIM staff fostering a productive and positive work environment.
Oversee the recruitment training and professional development of HIM team members.
Ensure staff compliance with HIM policies procedures and legal requirements.
Ensure the accurate and timely collection processing storage and retrieval of patient health information.
Oversee the maintenance of patient records ensuring they are in compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g. HIPAA state laws).
Ensure the use of standardized coding systems (e.g. ICD10 CPT) for diagnoses procedures and treatments.
Manage HIM workflows to optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Implement and oversee HIM best practices to ensure quality and consistency in all processes.
Collaborate with IT departments to ensure appropriate integration and use of electronic health records (EHR) and other health information systems.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve HIM operations data accuracy and security.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing HIM department efficiency accuracy and overall performance.
Analyze department performance metrics and use data to make informed decisions for improvement.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in the development of strategies to improve healthcare delivery and data management.
What you will bring to the table:

Bachelors degree in Health Information Management Healthcare Administration or a related field (Master s degree preferred).
Certified Health Information Manager (CHIM) Certified Health Information Technology Professional (CHITP) RHIT RHIA CCS or similar certification preferred.
Minimum of 57 years of experience in health information management or a related field with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
Indepth knowledge of health information systems electronic health records (EHR) and coding systems (e.g. ICD10 CPT).
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations (e.g. HIPAA HITECH Joint Commission).
Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HIMrelated software.
This position is paying $base salary with the opportunity to earn commission.
