SUMMARY: The Transportation Director Operations is responsible for leading all operational aspects of Georges transportation ensuring the safe compliant and cost-effective movement of temperature-sensitive goods. This role will oversee private fleet and 3rd party carrier operations load planning dispatch regulatory compliance fleet driver performance shuttle operations DOT compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Direct and manage day-to-day operations of refrigerated freight transportation across regional and national routes.

  • Ensure proper handling and delivery of perishable and temperature-controlled products.

  • Develop transportation strategies that ensure on-time delivery cost control and optimal equipment utilization.

  • Lead a team of dispatchers load planners drivers and logistics coordinators; provide coaching training and development.

  • Collaborate with plants sales and customer service teams to align logistics operations with broader business goals.

  • Develop and enforce safety programs driver compliance training and fleet performance programs.

  • Evaluate and implement new transportation technologies (TMS GPS tracking ELDs).


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Supply Chain Logistics or related field AND 8 years of transportation/logistics experience
  • 4 years of leadership experience managing teams
  • 4 years of experience with temperature-sensitive freight
  • Excellent computer skills which include Microsoft Office Suite TMS and ELD platforms
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing both asset-based fleets and 3PL carrier relationships
  • Lean logistics or Six Sigma certification
