KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspects calibrates and maintainsvolt switchgears and control relays;
Calibrates the breakers of 13000volt substation feeders;
Inspects and maintains all controls and switchgears for an emergency generator;
Evaluates the causes of equipment failure; prepares related reports;
Supervises Maintenance Mechanics in the repair of motors and installation of electrical fixtures;
Supervises the repair of electronic circuit boards.

Starting Salary: $59038 to $95918
OPEN COMPETITIVE
(a) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma with a Master Electrician License issued by the Suffolk County Department of Consumer Affairs and three 3 years of experience which must have been in the installation repair maintenance or troubleshooting of high voltage equipment;
OR
(b) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and seven 7 years of experience in the installation repair maintenance or troubleshooting of electronic electromechanical or electrical monitoring equipment including three 3 years of experience which must have been in the installation repair maintenance or troubleshooting of high voltage equipment.
ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS:
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles and practices
Comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures for high voltage operations
Thorough knowledge of the use of electrical tools and testing instruments
Thorough knowledge of the design of instrumentation and motor control systems
Skill in the use of electrical tools and testing instruments
Ability to prepare accurate reports
Ability to supervise employees in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
