About Aasraa Trust
Aasraa Trust was established in 2009 to work with societys most underprivileged and vulnerable children from the streets and slums of Dehradun. Aasraa is not just a charity but a vehicle for empowerment through education skills training nutrition healthcare and shelter homes. Starting with street level mobilization Aasraa uses a multifaced approach that prepares children for mainstream education and transition to higher studies and skills training.
Aasraa is certified by national Institute of Open Schooling and works with the education department of Uttarakhand to improve the quality of education at 9government school in Dehradun. Aasraa is also implementing a Girl Education Program in four girls Inter Collages in Udham Singh Nagar Uttarakhand. Aasraa has built shelters for orphaned abandoned abused and special needs children.
Aasraa started 14 years ago with 35 children and it is now supports over 11000 children from the streets and slums across 80 project in Dehradun district.
Job Responsibilities:
Take responsibility for the CommunityBased Learning Centres.
Track the alumni girls of the GGICs and those who received scholarships from the organization.
Plan visits to the community to engage and motivate children and parents for the education of the children.
Collect data on the passout children from the GGICs.
Conduct trainings workshops lectures presentations and other events to develop career planning for students and career awareness events for students. Evaluate students abilities and interests through aptitude assessments interviews and individual planning.
Identify issues that affect school performance.
Help students understand and overcome social or behavioural problems through classroom guidance lessons and counselling.
Work with students to develop skills such as organizational and time management abilities and effective study habits.
Help students create a plan to achieve academic and career goals. Collaborate with teachers administrators and parents to help students succeed. Advise students about what courses and educational programs they need for particular careers.
Assist students in enrolling for aptitude and personality development tests. Conduct mock interviews to help students with interview preparations. Help students select and apply for educational programs to obtain the necessary degrees credentials and skills.
Develop career services programs that will help students explore and plan career options.
Qualifications:
Master is degree in Counselling Psychology Social Work or a related field. Relevant experience in counselling with a focus on children and adolescents. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Empathetic and compassionate approach to counselling.
Knowledge of crisis intervention and traumainformed practices.
